Abby Pariser – A Member of Jane

Abby J. Pariser attended Barnard College, receiving her BA in American History in 1967. She also received her MA in 1975 at Roosevelt University, Chicago.

Abby participated in the movement against the war in Vietnam during college and became part of Chicago Women’s Liberation Union at its founding in 1968. She joined Chicago Abortion Counseling Service, AKA JANE in 1970 and worked counseling women and girls needing abortion before the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973, making abortion safe and legal in all 50 states.

She started a Planned Parenthood clinic with other women in Wheaton, Illinois and worked from 1974-1979. Abby became a member of NOW (National Organization for Women) and worked in many Democratic campaigns from 1968-now. She helped start & run Huntington NY Afterschool Care, was involved in many PTAs, and wrote AIDS Education grants.

Abby supports the ACLU, volunteered in the Huntington Interfaith Homeless Coalition sheltering homeless during the winter months. She was part of Suffolk Abortion Rights Coalition. Abby has been a board member  in Kehillath Shalom Reconstructionist Synagogue from 1986 to now.

She’s been married to Peter Gollon since 1967, has 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
